Leukemia & Lymphoma Society | Leukemia Cup Regatta
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society had a need to migrate their Leukemia Cup Regatta site to a platform that allowed for easy user access, content updates for event owners and reduced cost of maintenance. Their previous site was a static HTML site in need of a updated design and user experience to allow for easy navigation and event discovery. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society manages 7 website for raising funds and was looking for a consistent editorial and administrative experience across all sites.
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has a need for Regatta Cup Event Managers to update their event information, promote sponsors, and integrate their Fundraising and Participants in near real time.
- Migrate site to new platform as a multi-site environment.
- Provide event search based on zip code and name.
- Develop donation of participants and participants search.
- Develop workflow for publishing of events with approval.
- Integrate with Fundraising API to pull in Events, Participants, Teams and Fundraising in almost real time.
- Provide easy management of sponsors and contacts for each Regatta Cup event.
Drupal Connect setup a Drupal 8 multisite environment on the Acquia hosting provider and migrated content and pages from their static HTML sites to the new environment. Using Drupal 8 Content Moderation we developed a content editor workflows for review and approval. Each user, their role and their content is associated with a Chapter defining access and editorial permissions. The Geolocation module was used to provide searching of content based on geo location and fined tuned based on distance. Drupal’s core migration along with migrate plus was used to develop a custom API integration with LLS’ Fundraising API. This Fundraising API pull in new and also updated Events, Participants, Teams, and Fundraising results. Drupal Paragraphs where used to create dynamic landing pages for marketing freeing up the marketing team from writing HTML and more quickly publish landing pages. Paragraphs where also used to associate sponsors and easily allow content editors the ability to add tiered fundraisers to their event.
78 Chapters | 765 Participants | 176 Teams | over 800 Leaderboards
Drupal Connect was very active in how we communicated with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society team allowing for very open conversations, troubleshooting and implementation of solutions that both teams understood. The end result is the deliveries of a multi-site distribution on Acquia for a single platform on Drupal 8 with consistent design principles and workflows for future sites to adopt when added. The development of a responsive mobile theme bases on bootstrap was developed. The search solution based on geo data allowed for easy event searching and integration of paragraphs for easy sponsor editing. Drupal Connect also architected and delivered this new site in a short timeline of 2 and half months with documented workflows for content editing and API integration. The LLS team was very happy with our work and hired us to integrate additional sites into the Drupal 8 platform.
